We currently provide care to around 17,000 patients in Bicester and the surrounding areas and as the town grows, so do we.

Medical Coder

Taking responsibility for coding relevant information into our patients’ healthcare records using the EMIS Web clinical system.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Accurately read-coding data onto patient records
  • Identifying clinical information, coding appropriately and completing detailed actions
  • Scanning of patient documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients’ healthcare records
  • Amending and / or making additions to medical records to ensure that correct and complete information is each patients’ electronic record
  • Additional ad hoc tasks within the team as required

Previous experience in a medical setting is essential, along with these skills:

  • Accurate with excellent attention to detail
  • Organised and able to prioritise a busy and changing workload
  • Experience of administrative work
  • Flexible with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Discrete and able to maintain confidentiality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work as part of a team and autonomously

Pay is dependent on skills and experience and will include membership of the NHS Pension Scheme and five weeks paid holiday plus Bank Holidays.

Minor Illness Practitioner

We are looking for a Minor Illness Practitioner to join our team. Our Minor Illness team are an integral part of the practice providing urgent, on the day care for our patients.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a GP or other clinical setting with the qualifications, experience and aptitude to work within a primary care team of GPs and Allied Healthcare Professionals and may come from a range of backgrounds from paramedic, pharmacy or ANP. Alongside GPs, our clinical team includes Paramedics, Pharmacists, Physiotherapists, Mental Health Workers, a Bicester wide frailty team, Nurses and Healthcare Assistants.

This is an ARRS funded role and the successful candidate will need to meet specific criteria as either an FCP or ACP.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Assessing and triaging patients, including same day triage both on the telephone and face to face
  • Managing a patient list each day
  • Covering triage on designated days
  • Providing treatment (including prescribing medications following policy, patient group directives, NICE and local clinical guidelines and local care pathways) or making necessary referrals
  • Managing undifferentiated undiagnosed conditions
  • Identifying red flags, underlying serious pathology and taking appropriate action
  • Using complex decision making to inform diagnosis, investigation, and complete management of care within the broad scope of practice
  • Working as part of our multi-disciplinary team
  • Completing relevant training
  • Advising patients on general healthcare and promoting self-management

The successful candidate must be able to:

Perform investigatory procedures as required; Confidently collect pathological specimens; Perform and interpret ECGs; Chaperoning duties as needed; Advise GPs of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks; Ensure information on the system is recorded accurately and in a timely way; Maintaining equipment in accordance with infection control best practice; Communicate effectively with patients and where appropriate, family members and carers, complex and sensitive information regarding their physical health needs, results and treatment choices.

Relevant qualifications are required, as determined by the ARRS criteria.

In house training will be provided for the right candidate who will:

  • Enjoy dealing with our patients
  • Be organised and able to prioritise a busy workload
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Enjoy working as part of a busy team

Pay is dependent on experience. There is no weekend working, a generous pension scheme and five weeks paid holiday in addition to Bank Holidays.

Healthcare Assistant

Job description

The ideal candidate will have phlebotomy experience in a GP or other clinical setting with the qualifications, experience, and aptitude to work within a primary care team of GPs and Allied Healthcare Professionals. Our team includes Minor Illness practitioners, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, Physiotherapists, Mental Health Workers, a Bicester wide Frailty Team, nurses – including specialists in Diabetes and Respiratory.

The role is busy, challenging at times, and will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of patient care.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Phlebotomy
  • New patient health checks
  • ECG recording
  • Basic chronic disease reviews
  • Vaccinations
  • Signposting to other members of the MDT

Relevant Phlebotomy qualifications are required, and in-house training will be provided for the right candidate who will:

  • Enjoy dealing with our patients both on the phone and in person
  • Be organised and able to prioritise a busy workload
  • Have excellent attention to detail
  • Enjoy working as part of a busy team
  • Pay is dependent on skills and experience

Job Type: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: £11.78 per hour

Expected hours: 18 – 25 per week

Monday to Friday

Education:

GCSE or equivalent (preferred)

Experience:

GP surgery: 1 year (preferred)

Phlebotomy: 1 year (required)
