COVID-19 Vaccinations – Pregnant Women – updated Guidance

The JCVI advice has been updated due to the evidence gained from the USA, that Pregnant women can now be vaccinated with the Pfizer or Moderna Vaccine, in line with the the cohort they would have otherwise been invited if they were not pregnant.

Therefore for those pregant with an underlying health condition (we will contact you), or pregnant but 40 years or older, it is recommended that you discuss having the vaccination with your consultant or GP first.  (those under 40 will be contacted in due course).

If you have already had a 1st vaccination and this was the AstraZeneca vaccine, then it is recommended that you continue to have the Astrazeneca as your 2nd vaccination.

It is anticipated that the National Booking System (NBS) for Covid vaccination will soon have the capability to make appointments for pregnant women to have Pfizer or Moderna vaccinations. If you have received notification from the NBS to allow you to book an appointment, please ensure that you have noted that you are pregnant in the on line questions and that you have been directed to a clinic providing Pfizer or Moderna only (not AstraZenica).
