COVID-19 – Changes to Practice Appointments (all Bicester Practices)

All patients are asked to note that important new measures are now in place as part of the management of coronavirus in Bicester and the surrounding districts.

These measures help to protect patients by minimising the need for patients to attend practice premises when a telephone or online appointment may suffice, and in addition also minimises healthcare staff from possible exposure to COVID-19.

Therefore from Friday 13 March the booking of all NEW routine appointments has been suspended at all of the three Bicester GP practices (Alchester Medical Group, Bicester Health Centre and Montgomery-House Surgery.

Patients can continue to request an urgent same day appointment through our eConsult (primary) or telephone (secondary).

Our Blood Clinic will be appointment ONLY

If a patient has an existing appointment with a GP, Nurse or HCA this will become a telephone appointment.  The clinician will call the patient by 1pm that day to discuss the medical issue, and if appropriate invite them in to a face to face consultation that afternoon.

Where the availability of clinicians is affected by the virus, or patient demand increases, then currently booked routine appointments may also need to be cancelled.

This structured approach will allow the Practice to continue to provide the important care to all our patients over the coming few months, when undoubtedly we will also be affected by a reduction in staffing through necessary self-isolation.

We will be texting & phoning patients shortly with further details – PLEASE DO NOT PHONE THE PRACTICE

We thank our patients for their understanding and support.
